From what I understand, the usual text color for the medal hoverbox should be black, but on my wiki, it's showing up as a light gray that's difficult to see. Is there any reason for this?

The issue is the theme. If you have a dark theme, the text usually will be light. And if you have a light theme, the text will show up dark. Yet, from seeing the achievements page, the text seems to be vivid and readable. But, If you'd like the text to show up black, I suggest you changing your theme to a more lighter color. :D
Hope this helps,

Very poor excuse.
Try this:
/* Leaderboard Badge customization for clarity */ /* Warning: possible ambiguity */ .bronze span, .silver span, .gold span {color: black !important }
I would, but you didn't say where to put it.

have you refreshed the cache?
It seems that I have misunderstood your problem. I thought it's the text on the blank medals in the top box on Special:Leaderboard, which I experience the same problem of it being the default theme colour. I assume your problem is elsewhere.
The screenshot below is what my CSS snippet fixes. Apparently it works fine on my end.
Yeah, that's not what I'm talking about. Check the thread topic. I'm talking about the "Medals" script, which is something else entirely.
.badgetooltip { color:#000 !important; }
or
.badgetooltip .badgetootipwindow { color:#000 !important; }
These work in PortableCSSPad for me.
Ayy it works! Thank you!
