ChatMessageWallCount alerts users to new, unread message wall threads while in the Chat window. The script constantly checks for new threads over a set refresh interval so long as the user remains viewing the chat window, though the user may manually refresh by pressing the Chat-js button itself. Additionally, pressing the counter wds button opens the user's message wall in a new tab for ease of thread viewing.

The idea for this script was based upon a piece of code written by Penguin-Pal. The subsequent redesign was inspired by a mockup suggested by MACH-59330.

Customization

Users may adjust certain user config options via the addition of a window variable named configChatMessageWallCount. Adjustable properties include the interval at which the script queries for new thread data and the hue used to color the counter wds button in the event of an unread thread. An example with the default values is displayed below:

window.configChatMessageWallCount = {
  refreshRate: 60000,           // Query rate
  notificationColor: "#FF481F", // Alert color
};
