FANDOM-Monaco is a browser add-on that lets you replace the default Ace editor with Monaco Editor.

Press the Edit (M) button to open the editor.

The editor is enabled on:

  • MediaWiki and user JS pages (with partial code completion)
    • Custom user JS pages (using .javascript)
  • CSS pages
    • LESS pages
  • JSON pages
  • Portable Infobox pages (with code completion)

Installation

  • Mozilla Firefox:
    • Temporary installation:
      1. Download the zip file from the latest release page and unpack it.
      2. Visit about:debugging.
      3. Open Load Temporary Add-on.
      4. Select the unpacked extension.
    • Permanent installation:
      1. Make sure you are using Developer, Nightly or ESR version of Firefox.
      2. Toggle the xpinstall.signatures.required preference in about:config.
      3. Install the xpi file from the latest release page.
  • Google Chrome:
    1. Download the zip file from the latest release page and unpack it.
    2. Visit chrome://extensions.
    3. Enable Developer Mode in the top right corner.
    4. Click Load unpacked.
    5. Select the unpacked extension.

Themes

The look of the editor can customized by setting the window.monacoTheme variable. It can be set to:

  • vs-dark (default)
  • vs
  • hc-black
  • solarized-dark
  • solarized-light

For example, add the following line to your global.js:

window.monacoTheme = "solarized-dark";

You can also pass a Monaco StandaloneThemeData object instead of the string.
