This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the CustomModIcons page.

  • So Veralann wrote up the CSS and bothered posting :)
  • KockaAdmiralac gave me the JS to iterate the usergroup class addition off-wiki, which I minorly tweaked. Also changed it to use ES5 for better compatibility.
  • I rewrote much of the CSS so it uses the new badge containers.

I think it would be wise to put all three in. -SPD 13:59, February 24, 2017 (UTC)

Script still isn't entirely functional

Just thought I'd say that the script still doesn't work 100% the way it should. It works properly in that it gets rid of the new icons, and that chat moderators and staff get their old icons back. But the other groups don't have icons in chat at all, so they can't be distinguished from regular users in chat. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:32, May 5, 2017 (UTC)

Even with the latest review of the script being approved, I'm still not seeing any classic chat mod stars for admins, meaning the latest revision of the script has done nothing to fix the issue with getting the stars for admins, vstf, and helpers to show up. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:12, May 9, 2017 (UTC)
Seems like the issue is occurring at at w:c:hypercane too. :S -SPD 21:15, May 14, 2017 (UTC)
Darn. I hate that. For some reason Noreplyz's star is showing up, but Sactage and Jr Mime who are both CC admins as well, remain starless. I've tried the script on both my main account and my bot account on other wikis where I'm an admin/bureaucrat and my bot is a bureaucrat/discussion moderator, and neither of our stars are showing up. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:20, May 15, 2017 (UTC)
Sactage's star showed up when she entered chat but disappeared when she went AFK and didn't show up again when she was no longer AFK. Seems like the star is only showing up for admins/vstf/helpers when they first enter chat and they don't go AFK. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 00:39, May 25, 2017 (UTC)

Issues with the user(s) being away

Hello, I noticed on my test wiki that when I got marked as away the custom star disappeared. I don't know if its something on my end that is doing that or something else, but I just wanted to let you guys know.

That's strange. Because I've been experiencing the opposite as of today. For the first time in ages, the admin, vstf, and helper stars are finally showing up and staying up. Up until now, they always disappeared whenever an admin, vstf, or helper appeared as away, and didn't reappear when they stopped being away. Also up until now, whenever I joined chat, if there were any admins, vstf, or helpers in chat, the stars would not show up for them, but would show up for users in those groups when they entered chat, and stayed there, provided the individual users didn't get marked as away. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:38, August 29, 2017 (UTC)
That is strange as well, hopefully this issue gets resolved sometime in the future. Maybe because I don't have this above the import:
window.ClassicModIcons = true;
I don't really know.

Hi peeps. I triple-checked on w:c:hypercane, found the same issue. There's a fix to make sure custom badges stay after status changes in review. speedy🔔︎🚀︎ 16:14, August 29, 2017 (UTC)
@ Hypercane - The issue is mostly fixed, at least at my end, but I see what you mean now. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 23:29, August 29, 2017 (UTC)
