- Fixed, thanks
for the 3rd report I got about it in like an hour! -D 22:32, June 25, 2019 (UTC)
ID of administrators and moderators[]
In this complement it is possible to differentiate between administrators and moderators. I see that an ID should be put, but, how do I get that ID?
AndreMor 23:43, July 10, 2019 (UTC)
- Noted in the documentation -D 19:42, July 15, 2019 (UTC)
Loading icon[]
Is it possible to add loading icon to this module, like in DiscordModule? --Frostvalor (talk) 09:53, July 14, 2019 (UTC)
- Added -D 19:42, July 15, 2019 (UTC)
On Mobile 2[]
Hello,
I faced the exact same issue as user Lac, when I view the Discord widget on my mobile the avatars of the different Discord users also appeared like what was shown in Lac's screenshot image.
Also, MLP Wiki and Dev Wiki's Discord widget have customized colors for mods, bots and admins, I read the Discord page and there seemed to be no like, steps on how to change the colors, how do I do that?
Please help me thanks. Aphrodite (Talk) 14 July, 2019
- Mobile info is fixed, and there will be soon noted a better method for role separators, meanwhile you can do it manually with the documentation -D 19:42, July 15, 2019 (UTC)
Colors[]
How does the dev wiki add different role colors with this extension? Interested in using this on a wiki I administer on, and I don't see anything on the discord page regarding colors. ~Thunder (Page · Talk) 20:01, August 8, 2019 (UTC)
- It's just CSS, I wouldn't advise you to use it if you can't find out through inspect element, but you can check it out anyway. The main idea of the script is for it to not be an iframe, leading to these kinds of customizations being possible. -D 00:04, August 9, 2019 (UTC)
I'm missing something. I've been trying to colorize separate elements but it never wants to work. I do understand which elements are responsible for what, however, how do I make the wikia actually read a custom css script ('not be an iframe' sounds alien to me, so I'd like an explanation, please). {{SUBST:User:Komikoza/Sig|12:12,9/29/2019}} 12:12, September 29, 2019 (UTC)
Release status[]
What about changing release status from "Experimental" to "Beta"? It's widely and successfully used on many wikis after all. --Frostvalor (talk) 09:39, August 10, 2019 (UTC)
Another widget[]
And how to make a similar widget using a viber messenger instead of a discord?
Hey?
Rarity Item (talk) 17:17, August 17, 2019 (UTC)
- There isn't a script for that on Dev yet. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 17:41, August 20, 2019 (UTC)
[]
It looks that the text:
By joining you agree to our server guidelines.
doesn't get the translated string and it keeps the english.
--Panos 20:21, August 24, 2019 (UTC)
- That's because we've customized them locally. If you want, you can create a localized version of the guidelines text here too. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 20:29, August 24, 2019 (UTC)
- Done!

Discord page translated[]
I have just translated the Discord page in greek but the link to Greek (Ελληνικά) in the language bar links to the edit mode. Why?
--Panos 14:46, August 25, 2019 (UTC)
Widgets must be enabled[]
For anyone else having issues with it not loading, you need to go to Server Settings > Widgets > enable. Probably common sense, but just mentioning it for any fellow airheads out there ☙Fewfre☎ 🔎 K🧀16:44 Wed, 04 Sep 2019
- Thanks for the tip, I should probably incorporate some proper docs... eventually :P -D 20:04, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
Widget Issues[]
Hello! I'm currently trying to install this program onto my wiki, but for some reason when I try to add the template onto my wiki it just doesn't work at all. I've gotten javascript enabled and all of that lovely goodness, but I feel like I'm missing something. Thanky you!
KaiTheDoof (talk) 19:58, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
- Mind passing a link to the page you're using the widget on? Remember that if you want it to show up in the sidebar, you need to edit Custom-Discord-id, and in template use, you need to supply the
idparameter, or it will default to the one configured in the mw page (now missing). -D 20:04, October 9, 2019 (UTC) - -
- Actually I've figured out my issue, I skipped over a whole part of the page listing how to configure the widget! I was so concerned with the installation process that I skipped over the configuration section. Thank you so much for your time! KaiTheDoof (talk) 20:16, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
- It's alright, glad you got it working! Hope you do some cool stuff with it -D 20:17, October 9, 2019 (UTC)
Role ID[]
Is it possible to use the ID of an entire role instead of each user individually? Akaza 16:10, October 31, 2019 (UTC)
- It won't be until Discord starts showing role IDs in their widget data response. With the current data returned by the API there is no way to tell which user has which role. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 16:12, October 31, 2019 (UTC)
Is there a server size limit?[]
Just wondering if there is a limit to the size of the Discord server that this widget can connect to, as I'm getting timeout errors. Maybe there could be a way to specify that the bot loads only the first 𝒙 users from the userlist? I see that the DevWiki Discord server has around 100 or so users, so you might not have noticed this problem. The Discord server that I'm connecting to has over 3,000 users online at any given time. 𝓣𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓺𝓾𝓮𝓵𝓦𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓮 (talk) 03:36, December 6, 2019 (UTC)
- Hmm, I have just spoken to one of our other wiki editors from that Discord server, who says that the widget was working fine at their end, so I have re-enabled it. Perhaps the problem which I was experiencing was being caused by having too many browser tabs open for the wiki, all of which were loading the DiscordWidget, causing the timeouts? I'll keep an eye on it and come back if this becomes a problem further. Thanks. 𝓣𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓺𝓾𝓮𝓵𝓦𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓮 (talk) 05:19, December 6, 2019 (UTC)
- We've had to disable the DiscordWidget again temporarily, as it was slowing down our whole wiki. This issue was also remarked upon by Fngplg on the DevWiki Discord server. We would really like to use this widget, but at present it just can't handle our volume of users, it seems. If there were a way to limit the userlist to just those users explicitly named in the config files plus the first 𝒙 users, that would really help. Thanks. 𝓣𝓻𝓲𝓼𝓺𝓾𝓮𝓵𝓦𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓮 (talk) 02:38, December 7, 2019 (UTC)
Bug?[]
Hello, it seems the widget wants to give everyone a tag of #0000 and incorrectly display the right roles for certain members? It has been going on for a while now. Is there going to be a fix to this?
Hypercane (talk) 10:55, January 10, 2020 (UTC)
- I think thats related to Discord's (the company, not this script) change that made it so the widget only returns 100 users. --Little Red 11:06, January 10, 2020 (UTC)
- Hey there, per the notice on the main page, we're aware of this issue and are exploring possible workarounds. puxlit (talk) 11:09, January 10, 2020 (UTC)
CORS Policy error[]
When I try to use the DiscordWidget template it doesn't loads and I get a CORS Policy error. https://imgur.com/Q2LDAjJ --PineappleSnackz 17:51, October 22, 2020 (UTC)
- Can you try using a different browser or disabling cache in the DevTools Network tab? If the CORS header isn't cached on your side, Discord is caching it on theirs. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 18:50, October 22, 2020 (UTC)
- Disabling the cache worked! And it works in my other browser, it was just a bit annoying not having it work on my main. Thanks for the help. --PineappleSnackz 19:38, October 22, 2020 (UTC)
UCP issue[]
I've noticed an issue where the Discord integrator appears on certain special pages where it doesn't belong. Such as the Administrators' dashboard. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 11:03, October 30, 2020 (UTC)
- Bump. Just in case there's anyone that might be able to fix this issue that somehow didn't see my first message. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 11:59, November 13, 2020 (UTC)
Rail module breaks[]
The “display: flex;” being added to #WikiaRail (the “rail.style.display = 'flex';” line in the source code) seems to break the rail if the recently edited or popular page's title is too long – the whole rail just takes its indefinite width, following the respective module (#wikia-recent-activity or #recirculation-rail).
Is that patch function still needed, and can this be fixed?
--Poodle of water (talk) 17:44, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- As far as the patch still being needed, it was added as a patch to Chrome mobile misbehaving with scrollviews containing flex items , you can look at previous messages on this talk page for an example of how that looked
- About providing an alternative, do you have any suggestions? I've tried reproducing this with DevTools mobile emulation, and it looks "fine", when long titles are in the popular pages module it just stretches off as long as it needs to. Yeah, it's not pretty, but it's not breaking. I could add a max-width: 300px to band-aid them, would that work?
- I don't think I'm getting rid of the grid-column emulation, the Chrome bug was too bad for it to return -D 04:42, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- It's not so much a problem with Popular Pages as with the Recent Wiki Activity module (and in our wiki case it was apparently worsened by “width: 100%” added to .discord-widget-container).
- And yes, “max-width: 300px” to .WikiaRail .rail-module does seem to fix the problem. Poodle of water (talk) 18:22, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- I added it, let me know if it brings any problems or anything else -D 02:22, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Role Grouping not showing :([]
Hi, I followed everything exactly as the Configuration in the page Discord. I tried to implement Roles to the Groups of Users and put the roles in an order already. However, I am unable to achieve the effect, it still shows USERS role only. If you wish to take a look at the configuration, This is the Wiki I am currently working on. JGKC 18:17, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- See the banner at the top of the page. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 18:56, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that... I didnt see that roles are not working. Well, thanks anyway. JGKC 06:05, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
Make "auto" the default theme?[]
With FandomDesktop being rolled out as the default skin on a growing number of wikis, I wanted to see if anyone had oppositions to making the rail widget default theme set to auto, which adapts to the theme that the user is viewing the page with on FandomDesktop. I feel like the widget should blend in with the rail as best as it can, which this change would accomplish. Joritochip (talk) 00:35, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Organization[]
Is there a way I can display the widget so that it shows people that are actually active within the server? Mase-kun (talk) 21:44, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- Discord does not return that information, so no, not right now. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 23:03, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
Updating Discord Logo[]
Its been quite a while since Discord updated their logo, yet the heading still shows the old logo. Any possibilities to when this can be added?
Enewssg (enews) 03:23, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- There is a configuration option for branding. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 09:31, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
Does server needs to be indexed?[]
I just installed the Discord script in my wiki. I created the Discord server three days ago, so I think it isn't indexed yet; because MediaWiki:Custom-Discord-id and the other parameters too. The Discord widget shows up on the right rail module but the server and the button aren't loading. What can I do? >_IMPOSTOR7804contribs - talk

Everyone, even admins are showing under user. erlc.fandom.com-Joshuabirger (talk) {Please tell me on my Talk Page if you reply to me} 21:36, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Discord changed how the API this widget uses works, there's a notice about it on the script's page. --Sophie ♦ 21:43, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks!-Joshuabirger (talk) {Please tell me on my Talk Page if you reply to me} 21:45, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at the page, the notice got removed, but there's a footnote about it on the page that covers it. --Sophie ♦ 21:48, 24 May 2023 (UTC)

Widget under Rail Module[]
Is it possible for me to make the widget appear under the rail module, instead of on top of the sidebar? Or even just disable the actual widget and only use it as a template in the main page. Todoyamas (talk) 00:05, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, you can use the widget without the sidebar. Simply don't configure it, and you can use the template. Assuming you copied the template into your wiki. As for configuring the position of the widget on the sidebar, I don't think you can do it. Maybe AddRailModule can help you? Or some custom js to reposition after the fact. -D 00:31, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
