Suggestion, config bug

You know, this script can be more effective if it was to list recent comments like the "Recent Wiki Activity" model which lists the last changes made to Wiki articles.--Luma.dash (talk) 21:53, June 13, 2017 (UTC)

Hmm. Recent comments (replies to posts), or sorting by most recent post (now implemented)? I am sure there's a way to do #2, but this script basically styles the <discussions/> parser tag.
An option like that would be not default and also just may constrain the rail. But I'm all for extending it for any sane reason, so thanks for the suggestion. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 20:09, June 14, 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the response. But, there is some problem with clicking on posts. Like in here W:C:Sonic:Desert Ruins (Sonic Runners Adventure), it is hard to left click at the link of the post. Hope you fix it! --Luma.dash (talk) 14:07, June 15, 2017 (UTC)
It is now working correctly after your increment to the z-indexing.--Luma.dash (talk) 20:34, June 15, 2017 (UTC)
Unfortunately, your script is still throwing an error Link. :/ Luma.dash (talk) 13:37, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
Just asking, did you put the config in your Js? Clash.BikashTalk 17:20, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
There is a bug where missing configuration will add a config with attribute values of "undefined". Submitted a fix. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 17:39, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
Hmm... The problem is that with or without the configuration it does not work. I also tested your current revision on my personal JS and it didn't work. But, maybe it'll be different site-wide.--Luma.dash (talk) 18:00, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
Same problem on Polish Arrowverse community. ~ Szynka013 18:06, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
The issue has now been fixed. Apologies. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 18:41, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
Don't apologize! You're doing a good thing. Bugs are the basis of awesome program. Don't worry, keep calm and smile :) ~ Szynka013 18:51, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
Per Szynka013. Things like that happen. The important thing is that we learn the problem and try to avoid creating it. But overall, it is a feature that I did look for since my wiki's migration to discussions. So, Good job on it!--Luma.dash (talk) 20:43, June 16, 2017 (UTC)

Since your latest addition to the JS page, it is not working. This time, just the background is showing up.--Luma.dash (talk) 20:55, June 19, 2017 (UTC)

The bug's a weird parser issue involving the 'discussions' parser tag and some paragraph tags in the output. Not confident about a fix, but I can try. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 01:37, June 20, 2017 (UTC)
Hmm... It is not working on my personal js. :/ Why don't you revert the "adding avatar stack" thing if it is causing you trouble? It was working accurately before it. Maybe just add it as a thing for the "to-do" list so that someone else would do later. Though if you don't want to do that, can I copy your script before this change and use it on my wiki?--Luma.dash (talk) 12:48, June 20, 2017 (UTC)
Kocka fixed it, gave it a rewrite and a couple nudges I needed to get the avatar stack working. Hopefully also a bit less buggy in future. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 20:13, June 23, 2017 (UTC)
Some context: it turns out the script had the rail module selector variable set too early and wasn't firing correctly, because the rail module wasn't appended yet. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 23:29, June 23, 2017 (UTC)
Yes, I see it now fixed. Good job you both. However, there is some problem with the downloaded avatars on the "avatar stack" I noticed when I had tested it on my wiki via personal JS. See. Note that I have disabled both the Wiki's JS and CSS so I don't think this problem stems from my wiki.
Edit: It is also appearing on "Special:Wiki activity".--Luma.dash (talk) 19:19, June 24, 2017 (UTC)
The script's URL pattern for full-size avatars was wrong. Fixed that and another curious issue with the stack append. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 21:46, June 24, 2017 (UTC)
Good job on the fix. It worked out the first problem, though the second one is still persisting. :/ On a related note, do you want to sort the avatar stack like the one on the community rail (like the one from my earlier screenshot), or you deem it redundant? I can make it like that if you want.--Luma.dash (talk) 22:36, June 24, 2017 (UTC)
Nice work, consistent with the community module. Had it not been for the size constraint from the TFA module, I would incorporate it and put some text on the left side. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 15:01, July 6, 2017 (UTC)

contribution button

Could you provide a button beneath your module like the common ones already have like so:
Join discussions
Agent Zuri Über mich Nachrichtenseite Ankündigungen 13:18, June 15, 2017 (UTC)

Right now, the header is clickable. I'll try style and position the existing "view all" button so that it looks like that.
Not sure whether the button should be accompanied by an avatar card stack at the bottom, or as a standalone button at the top (longside the header title). • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 14:05, June 16, 2017 (UTC)
Ah, okay, you changed that. Looks good (Y) Thanks ;) Agent Zuri Über mich Nachrichtenseite Ankündigungen 01:29, June 18, 2017 (UTC)

DiscussionsRailModule in Discussions

Heading says it all. It is possible to add this script in Discussions? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JustLeafy (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Your signature seems to have triggered the abuse filter so I was forced to change it, sorry! In regard to adding it to discussions, it is unfortunately not possible. Since the JS and CSS that we are importing cannot affect the Discussion platform. It is not even part of the MediaWiki program as far as I know.--Luma.dash (talk) 17:36, June 20, 2017 (UTC)
The <discussions/> tag is tied to a lot of MediaWiki functions. Not possible without a full rewrite. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 20:16, June 23, 2017 (UTC)

Hide Deleted post

  • Is their anyway you can hide deleted post from for admins too or add a config to hide.
  • This rail overlapping with the Bottom ad.
Thanks Clash.BikashTalk 08:04, June 30, 2017 (UTC)
Hey after latest update, it seems the this rail is not in the WikiActivity anymore. Clash.BikashTalk 09:24, July 3, 2017 (UTC)
Will be fixed on review. It will now appear across the wiki as an append, if it can't be added after a local activity module (whether it's the Forum or Wiki Activity module). There might be some places where it's best not to have it, but probably not.
I also have hidden deleted posts for now, but a content feed displaying malcontents to all users sounds like something for S:C/bug. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 15:07, July 6, 2017 (UTC)
EDIT: Deleted posts only show up for admins and mods in <discussions/>, so it's not immediately a problem. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 15:39, July 6, 2017 (UTC)
I think if you add it below Live Chat module than it would appear in everywhere, but if any wiki don't chat enabled than theirs a problem.
Yeah, <discussions/> show deleted post to admins, and i'm gonna do a S:C/bug for it. Clash.BikashTalk 20:11, July 6, 2017 (UTC)

CSS class

So I was wondering, wouldn't it more appropriate to use the new class rail-module instead of module? leviathan_89

@fandom 17:04, July 4, 2017 (UTC)

The script uses the rail-module class as a container, but the tag extension still uses module. Which makes sense if you consider the possibility of people using <discussions/> as a content feed on the mainpage. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 15:31, July 6, 2017 (UTC)

I want to use this module for the main page

How do I do it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JustLeafy (talk • contribs) . Please sign your posts with ~~~~! 04:53, July 13, 2017 (UTC)

Also, I don't want it in my right rail, I want it only on the right column of the main page of the wiki I administer.

You don't really need this script to do that: the Help:Discussions activity feed is a native function of FANDOM that you can use on any page. This purpose of this script is to add a module with that feed in the right rail, since it's not a place you can edit normally. leviathan_89

@fandom 08:55, July 13, 2017 (UTC)

If what you wanted was the rail module's design, I would have advised importing the CSS...but that's missing some features that only the script has.
I added window.discussionsModuleEmbed to do this for you (config). • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 01:25, July 29, 2017 (UTC)

Translation not updating

I've added a new translation (Italian) however it doesn't show up. At first I thought it was a cache issue, but I've added it 5 days ago, is that normal? leviathan_89

@fandom 17:01, November 29, 2017 (UTC)

I can confirm it is not updating at all (as seen here, I added a german translation). --Bryan VANGUARD.svg ( talk ) 18:24, November 29, 2017 (UTC)
Apparently the reason the translations are not applied is because the script actually doesn't use I18n-js. We have to wait for someone to update the script. leviathan_89@fandom 20:41, November 29, 2017 (UTC)
Done - the script's translated. I created the JSON in September, but gave the translations (and my understanding of i18n-js) a while to grow. • speedy • 🔔︎ • 🚀︎ • 23:42, November 29, 2017 (UTC)
EDIT: Thanks for the edits, may I add : )

New url structure for language path wikis

Hi, when I click on a link to a post in a non-english wiki, I go to the english discussions where this post doesn't exist. The url changed from http://{lang}.{dbname}{postid} to http://{dbname}{lang}/d/p/{postid}.
Thanks in advance,

Hello. I raise the question. We also have problem with discussion: topics from the block on ru-wiki open in en-wiki.
Natalya-ru 16:44, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
This seems to be an issue on Fandom's side, because <discussions /> is behaving the same way, too. I'll try to find the issue in their code and contact them with the fix. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 16:49, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much! -- Natalya-ru

Hello. I can not understand why there are two blocks of discussions? And both they in a different design. -- Natalya-ru 15:22, February 10, 2019 (UTC)

Hey! As I see, problem occurs because Rusy233 ms has placed <discussions /> tag in RailModule template (AddRailModule script appends it into right Rail). RAIL my talk 17:16, February 10, 2019 (UTC)
Strangely, this module was not previously. Thanks. -- Natalya-ru 17:30, February 10, 2019 (UTC)

Maybe it's been discussed somewhere else, but, this doesn't work after the discussions upgrade that fandom did. Just thought I'd mention it. :)

Virvar (talk) 14:24, May 3, 2019 (UTC)

I've figured out that the rail module works perfectly on my German wikis (which don't have the new community feed as of now), but not on English ones. So the community feed might have caused this problem. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Moviejunkie2009 (talk) 17:08, May 3, 2019 (UTC)

The problem with the download script

It seems the script doesn't want to load. Maybe it has to do with the russian language?

  • The style works only in the preview
  • Also I do not understand how to make it appear in the right side of the wiki?
    • You need to use the config, or it appears there by default?

the problem here:Шаблон:Тест4

I suggested that the script does not work due to the updates discussion, sorry to bother you, wait for corrections)

F > D

The script seems not to work properly while /d has changed to /f. At least it does not appear to me anywhere. ~Mustafar29 User page • User talk 15:01, May 11, 2019 (UTC)

Hotfixed, but I don't think it'll need any further attention. RAIL my talk 15:20, May 11, 2019 (UTC)
