UserTags[]

Is this known to conflict with UserTags?—|| Grudgeholderr ||— 23:19, May 20, 2018 (UTC)

Yes, any user tag scripts are going to conflict with UserTags at some point, I'm pretty sure. I'm waiting for somebody to implement a hook into UserTags that fires when its tags load so other scripts can readd their tags afterwards. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 05:11, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
It actually occasionally works with UserTags/ProfileTags, but only sometimes. Patrik 18:13, May 21, 2018 (UTC)
Could it be made to be appended to the regular tag container, along with the other tags?—|| Grudgeholderr ||— 21:27, June 3, 2018 (UTC)

Possible issue with this JS[]

My understanding of this JS (and please tell me if it is not entirely correct) is that it adds a masthead tag dependent on the pronouns specified in Special:Preferences. While the result will be accurate in many cases, there are cases in which someone uses he/him pronouns but is not male, uses she/her pronouns but is not female, etc., as pronouns are not gender-exclusive. As such, this script has the potential to misgender users. This could possibly be remediated by changing the tag to say "He/Him" if the user selected "He edits wiki pages" and say "She/Her" if the user selected "She edits wiki pages". MediaWiki let the user choose between genders instead of pronouns on legacy, and the script just hasn't been updated to reflect that change. The English translation has now been updated to say "He/him" instead of "Male" and "She/her" instead of "Female" in the masthead and it can take up to 1 day to reflect that change. Note that the preferences in Serbian, Ukrainian and probably some other languages still let the user choose between sexes so the tags in these languages will be left as they are. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 08:34, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Nonbinary Pronouns[]

At the time of writing this, MasterheadGender does not display tags if the said user selected They/Them in their preferences. Will this ever be updated? Alyss Solo🏹⚔️Fairies don't cry~⚔️🏹 20:15, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

No, unfortunately not. The neutral pronoun setting is the default setting, so the script has no way of knowing whether the user explicitly wanted their pronouns set to "they/them" or just didn't touch that setting. Also, in some languages the "they edit wiki pages" part of the interface is translated as "undefined" (as in, the user's gender is not defined), so it would not make much sense to display "undefined" in these languages. -- Cube-shaped garbage can 20:24, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
