This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Template:Script Install page.
Needs serious refactoring and revamp.
This is one horrible template. Too any inlined styles, too many if statements and the meta-templates this uses have loads of curly brackets and repeated content. I suggest scrapping this and adapting Module:Lua install to work with it.Dessamator (talk) 14:44, February 9, 2016 (UTC)
I added in a small notice that can be used on scripts which cannot be imported onto a wiki using ImportJS (ie, the script has required configuration options and won't work without them). Simply add
|noimportjs=true when calling the template to make the notice appear. --Sajuuk 10:36, May 29, 2016 (UTC)
People are still copy-pasting the importArticle code ignoring the fact they can use ImportJS for site-wide script. Maybe separate the sitewide part from the rest? Something like:
- Add this to ImportJs
- Add this

- There's an alternative version of this template at Template:Script Install/ImportJS, which is presented like your example. - OneTwoThreeFall (talk) 08:17, October 14, 2016 (UTC)
Do these instructions still need to refer to the Mediawiki namespace? I'm under the impression that that's deprecated by now, and needs to be corrected in the template... —RyaNayR (talk • contribs) 02:08, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
- Uh, yes? All the code is in the MW namespace so I hope it refers to that namespace. --Sharkie 02:10, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry, one of the Wikia Staff, Rappy 4187 informed me that imports including that namespace were unnecessary. —RyaNayR (talk • contribs) 02:55, January 31, 2019 (UTC)
